Rally met with the Client’s engineering and operations teams to walk through the site and brainstorm potential solutions. After collecting information on the existing piping, pumps, tankage, and loading equipment, Rally performed a hydraulic study. Various scenarios for the simultaneous loading of premium diesel fuel onto trucks and railcars were evaluated, with a goal of increasing overall throughput and loading flexibility. Rally also studied the existing lube oil offloading pumps and tankage to develop ideas on how to offload base oils more efficiently.
The key deliverable for this phase of work was a scoping study report. It identified several potential piping reconfigurations that would make it possible to load premium diesel fuel onto railcars at existing mine diesel spots. It also proposed a new arrangement of lube oil offloading spots on adjacent rail spurs.
After seeking the Client’s feedback, Rally prepared an engineering estimate and preliminary schedule for follow-up FEED phase services.
